TIPS & TRICKS to accentuate your beautiful shape without fillers
Lips are one of those features that can make you feel confident or possibly even insecure.
When we meet and speak to someone for the first time (without a mask), we tend to recognize eyes, teeth, and lips right off the bat! Just like keeping up to date with your grooming, men and women are turning to lip services for a "picture perfect" look.
But what makes lips picture perfect? Is it the moisture content? Is it the pigment? The fullness or definition? The clarity?
My point is, I don't think there is a "one type of perfect lips." Just like the spectrum of beauty, everyone has their own unique set of flare. There are ways to embrace and accentuate our individual lip shape, color, and even texture.
Let's start with basic lip hygiene to make sure you are starting at a healthy baseline:
Exfoliate: Aside from your regular skincare, you want to make sure you are removing the dead skin and dry flakes about once a week. You can do this with an ultra soft toothbrush, damp washcloth, or even a gentle sugar scrub.
Hydrate: Since our lips do not contain oil glands like the rest of our skin, we tend to dry out in this area easily. They can also be a good tell sign if you are drinking enough water or not. To ensure plump and colorful lips, make sure to up your water intake and hydrate with moisturizers, natural oils, and clean ingredient chapsticks.
(Bonus- if they all include a SPF)
Next, comes the makeup play:
Start with a skin colored lip liner: Think of this as contour for your lips. You don't necessarily want to draw inside the line of the lip, but more so a crisp outline where the face meets the lip. (we recommend a natural lip tone or 1 shade slightly darker)
Base Color with Lipstick or Gloss: If you typically go for a natural look, we would suggest sticking with a lip shine or chap stick. Fill your lips in with something lighter or glossy & clear. This will add to your contour by giving a little lift and illumination- a beautiful daily wear! The same applies if you like a little color in your life- maybe go for a lipstick and a gloss! This will really amp up the volume, define the shape, and smooth the texture.
1 step further with Glam-Lites: This is a great accent for ones looking to achieve that sultry, dewy plump. It's called "I just went to the med spa and had a facial with a kiss of filler " Apply a small finger dab of glamour-lites (we like Star Radiance and Bronze Beauty for this) to the center crease of your lips and blend. Add another dab to the very top of your bow where you first applied liner, and blend. Wallah!
Lastly, go bare! Exfoliate, hydrate, protect & repeat. Rock your natural pout without any of the makeup. Make sure to expand your self care routine, especially since we've been hiding under masks for 2 years. Your lips will thank you!
