It can become simple & mindless when we continue to run on this "treadmill of life" without ever stepping off to recharge or re-balance. With work or family or friends, we tend to continuously serve others while forgetting to serve ourselves in return. Unfortunately, with our skin being our biggest organ, we receive a reflection of our health reality through the skin. Whether that's acne, rosacea, fine lines, dryness, flakiness, hyperpigmentation, dark circles, an abundance of oil, etc...

A lot of the times, these skin troubles are directly related to our liver and its ability to detoxify our bodies. In 2022, we have to worry about chemicals, pollutants, toxic heavy metals, pathogens, highly processed oils, and much more! It's very common for our livers to need a rest and assistance for detox. 
Here are some easy lifestyle habits that can work wonders for your liver and skin healing journey!

Start your morning with a tall glass of lemon water. This will flush your liver, hydrate you on a cellular level, purify your blood, reduce harmful stomach acids, and slow the body's aging process. * It's okay to add a touch of honey!

​Try the no fats before noon method!
This may be a bit more intensive but the benefits are magical. Your liver is not able to rest and regenerate when fat enters your system. By choosing fresh fruits, smoothies, juices, or even oatmeal, your liver will thank you! *Make sure to leave behind any milk, nut butters, avocado, oils, and meats. Save your healthy fats for lunch or dinner. Try this for a week and see how you feel!

We understand how difficult it can be to transition to and from skincare lines. This can be a little anxiety inducing but it's very necessary to know the food you have been feeding to your skin. A lot of skincare on shelves today are filled with preservatives and fillers that can strip your skin and throw off your skin's natural microbiome. This can actually make it harder for your skin to do it's natural glowing work. *Here is a good checklist to avoid: -synthetic fragrance-phthalates-parabens-polyethylene glycol-anything with sodium-mineral oil-siloxanes-oxybenzone-homosalate


Get active & sweat!
We can't express this enough! Sweating is a great way of detoxing your pores, tightening your skin, stimulating collagen production, and overall improving blood flow to nourish your cells and deliver that healthy glow! *All you need is 15-20 minutes 


Daily Sunscreen without fail

This may be one worth researching to make sure you avoid added harmful ingredients. As much as the sun is our friend, the sun can also be our enemy when it comes to fine lines and hyperpigmentation. The sun reacts with every person differently depending on the nature of their cells and possible toxin build up. While striving for healthy skin, make sure to protect your skin from any potential damage. *Refer to skincare checklist 


Make Vitamin C your best friend.
You can eat it through fresh fruits and vegetables and also add it to your daily skincare routine. This one is a staple for glowing skin! Vitamin C is full of wonderful benefits including: repairs damaged skin, diminishes fine lines & wrinkles, visibly brightens complexion, prevents premature aging, and helps to lighten dark spots.


Strengthen your skin barrier with Ceremides

If you tend to have itchy, flaky, or dry skin, most likely your skin barrier is compromised. 
Ceramides are fats or lipids that are found in skin cells. They make up 30% to 40% of your outer skin layer, or epidermis. Ceramides are important for retaining your skin's moisture and preventing the entry of germs into your body. * You can find a number of pure ceremide products to restore your balance!


Keep the water lukewarm.
This is a common decision most people make. I don't know anyone that doesn't like hot showers. It makes sense to wash your face while in the shower and at whatever temperature to your desire. But try making it a more mindful action to turn down the water from hot to warm when putting your face directly in the water. Stay gentle with washes and this will keep your skin from drying out or turning red.


Sleep on moisturizer, literally.
Your final touches to your skin before resting your head at night is crucial. We want to make sure that the entire days worth of dirt, oils, and pollutants are gently removed, and our skin is then replenished with serums and moisturizers. Don't be afraid to go to bed a little oily, you will wake up plump and glowing! 


Lastly, try to avoid the No No Foods: these are inflammatory culprits that can wreak havoc with our skin. Here is a list of the top inflammatory causing foods: refined carbs (white breads, pasta, pastries) - fried foods - soda & sugar sweetened beverages - red & processed meats - margarine, butters, and lards - MSG - gluten - casein - alcohol - vegetable and seed oils.
